Cuba 1928 - Sc C2 - (EDIFIL 233) First Day Cover with special cachet. A neatly addressed Feb 8, 1928 First Day of Arrival Cover/First Day Cover of the Charles A. Lindbergh stamp. This stamp was issued in conjunction with his visit to Havana on February 8th. 1928. This cover bears the so-called "Island cachet" that in my experience, was applied to perhaps less than 5% of all the Lindbergh First Day Covers. This 1 5/8 x 2 7/8in rectangular cachet applied in purple reads: GOOD WILL TOUR - HABANA - WELCOME COL. LINDBERGH - FEBRUARY 8 - 1928 - !BIENVENIDO! with an outline of the "Island" - Listed in the Cuba-to-Foreign-Destinations First Flights section of the EDIFIL catalogue as E3a and priced at € 100.- (US $140.-) |
