CUBA 1899 - (EDIFIL 55) - 160x89 mm., Knife 75, stamped envelope used by Coronel H. E. Noyes, that would later on, be promoted to Brigadier General and named Governor General of the Santa Clara Province.
A 2c carmine on white, watermark "US POD 99" stamped envelope from the 1899 issue, uprated by the addition of an 1899 3c stamp and used from Santa Clara to the USA. Indicium cancelled with SANTA CLARA - CUBA - SEP 26, 1899 duplex cds. At the upper left corner, a stamped sender's address of: SOLDIER'S LETTER - H.E. Noyes Col. 2nd Cav. - Santa Clara. Cuba. The envelope was addressed to Norristown, Pennsylvania but forwarded to Hotel Luray, Atlantic City, New Jersey. Slightly reduced at the left margin by about 4 mm., as it can be seen on the scan of the reverse side.
