SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD - Cuba 1903 - EDIFIL 75 - 160x89 mm, Knife 81, uprated, REGISTERED, stamped envelope. The 1903 1c green on white Christopher Columbus stamped envelope used in 1908 from Santiago de Cuba to Los Angeles, California. The additional 10c Registration fee was paid by adding the 1905 10c regular issue stamp. Indicium and stamp cancelled with 2 strikes of a "0 in circle" handstamp that is sometimes seen on Registered mail from Santiago de Cuba. Rectangular SANTIAGO DE CUBA - May 14, 1908 Registration handstamp applied at the lower-left corner. Backstamped in transit at Chicago and on arrival at Los Angeles. This cover was sent by Domingo Benavente, Poblado Cuabitas, Billar Carid, Stgo de Cuba. Cleanly opened at top and very clean overall. There is a very small thin spot on the back flap, over the "B" of Benavente, very probably caused by a stamp hinge used to affix this PSE to an album page. |
