Cuba 1890 - EDIFIL 25Aip - 2c green on buff postal card used from Santiago de Cuba to Puerto Principe. The 2 centavos de peso green on buff postal card of 1890 with a wonderful privately printed message side from a Havana commercial concern. One would assume that the card was used from Havana but the postal mark cancelling indicium (not complete and blurry) appears to be a Santiago de Cuba cancel. Since the card informs the recipient in Puerto Ptincipe that a traveling salesman will visit him in few days, it is more probable that this salesman was coming from Santiago de Cuba rather than Havana that, distance wise, is much more farther away. Backstamped on arrival with very blurry but readable PUERTO PRINCIPE - ISLA DE CUBA c.d.s. - Since a picture is worth a thousand words, take a look at the picture of the message side of this early card provided below! The 2012 EDIFIL catalogue prices three other of these cards with a privately printed message side at between € 165,- and € 230,- each (between US $210.- and US $300.- each) but it does not lists or prices this particular one from "El Caballo Andaluz". Slightly rounded off lower corners. The upper left corner has been repaired and at that same corner, there is an slight horizontal fold. AN INCREDIBLY RARE ITEM!
