SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD - Cuba circa 1902 - Ottmar Zieher CUBA card - No. 53
An unused CUBA card from the Ottmar Zieher "Stamps of the World" series. This is the " uncancelled stamps" variety card (the same card also exists with printed cancellations applied by the publisher)
I haven't been able to locate very specific information on these cards, but I have seen also "uncancelled" and "cancelled" versions from other countries. It appears that the cancellations were added later on, to make their importation into the USA legal, since US laws did not allow the importation of uncancelled reproductions or facsimiles of officially issued postage stamps. THESE CARDS WITHOUT THE ADDED CANCELLATIONS ARE VERY SCARCE. ONLY AROUND 10% OF ALL THE CARDS FOUND ARE THIS "UNCANCELLED" STAMPS TYPE
